I Had a Dream

I had a dream. No really, I had a dream. I mention this for a few reasons:
1: Blogging was the last thing I did before going to bed last night,
2: There's little likelihood that my fiber list and me will be sought out to become the next Julie & Julia blog to blockbuster movie
3: I may very well be sharing my fiber foibles and beyond with no one except for myself.

So. the dream. I am at work (in the care facility) and it is close to my knocking off time. All the residents are on their way into the dining room for dinner. From my desk, I look outside to see if my husband has arrived to pick me up. My husband and I carpool and continue to do so several days a week, even though he is not working(beyond his job as Keeper of the List) so up until now,  this dream is quite real to life.

Anyway, helping the residents in for dinner, I spot my husband pull up, with the dog.....on an elephant! The street is lined both sides with parked cars so I hurry myself to grab my lunch box and sign out of work. But now the health inspector is in the dining room and I, for some reason, feel compelled to distract her so she doesn't see the elephant double parked out front.

"It's ten to, it's ten to" I hear on the paging system.
"Oh great!" I think, I still have 10 minutes to work as I see my husband slowly riding the elephant away, obviously having now found an opening to park.
"It's ten to, time to get up" I hear as I run out the door towards the elephant.
"I'm coming"
I guess I'll never know how the heck I would have resolved to get up on that elephant. Yes, it was ten to, time to get up, shower and get ready for work.

The Dreamers' Dictionary reports the elephant to be an omen of great good luck. Awesome!

....so "who would I like to play me in my Blogbuster movie?", I think out loud from the bathroom.
"It would have to be a redhead" answers my husband.
Me: "Lucille Ball?"
"Yeah, remember our mini-moon" laughs my husband.

The Keeper of the List

My husband that recently found himself out of work has obviously too much time on his hands as he announces "Hon, you really need a printer for your lists".
And lists is exactly what he tells the Costco staff when asked what we intend to primarily use the printer for. We? Yes, it appears that list making has now become a shared activity.

"I made a list" is the greeting I received after a long day at work. My husband never seems to hear me when I remind him to prune the wisteria else it swallow up the woman that lives upstairs(though in his defence it has been a lot quieter this last month), but before me, lay the mother of all lists. Categorized by fiber type it also includes columns for micron count, lustre and a thousand other attributes falling just short of the weekend relief shepherd's name!
Stunned, I immediately promote him to Keeper of the List!

As an aside, I work in the Mental Health field and this list situation brings to mind a condition called Folie  à Deux

Shared psychotic disorder, or folie à deux, is a rare delusional disorder shared by 2 or, occasionally, more people with close emotional ties. An extensive review of the literature reveals cases of folie à trois, folie à quatre, folie à famille (all family members), and even a case involving a dog. medscape

Hmmmm....Now may be a good time to introduce my fiber flock

Mastering the Master List

I have become quite adept at making Fleece Master Lists. My first one started with about 92 breeds. Awesome, I think I could maybe do 92 breeds over time. Actually it was the do ability of 92 breeds that sucked me into this black hole I the first place.
So...I set to collecting 20g bumps of my breeds. It isn't long before I start to collect breeds that aren't on my list. What gives with that? Isn't the reason for making a list in the first place, to cross things off? I'm adding to mine in order to cross off. Not to worry, I am doing an awesome job. I have about 24 different sheep breeds and feeling kinda smug that some of those aren't even on the original Master List.
Now on Ravelry, it has become evident that I have a list.
"I think she is working from the same list as me", observes Woolforbrains.
"Hey, I have a bigger list I can email you" helpfully chimes in Ksenour.
Wow! A bigger Master List. I just had to have that. Hers isn't just a bigger Master List, hers is called a Comprehensive List...of 245 sheep breeds!

This may just take a little longer to accomplish.

Baaack to the beginning

It was the Summer of 2011. Well, not exactly the Summer as far as sunscreen and sunhats. In all truth, it was barely hot enough for the oscillating fan let alone sleep nekkid without a sheet. Well...not that either, as a sleepwalker one will inevitably walk at the least dressed of times. So, coming clean, I guess it wasn't that it all started in the Summerish of 2011 at all. Lets call it the moment that I had my epiphany that my weird obsession was neither weird nor an obsession.

The Richmond Weavers and Spinners Guild has a wonderful little library of which I like to regularly borrow books. I tend to be one of those borrowers that do so with the best intentions of reading the books and periodicals but in all reality am one of those people that thumb through the borrowed bounty in the final minutes before their return to the shelves. I made a very strange exception to my book borrowing routine leading up to the Summerish RWS Guild break of 2011. I took home a book entitled In Sheeps Clothing by Fournier & Fournier....and then I opened it right away!

Now being usually right about everything, just ask my husband, it was almost refreshing to be wrong...or is it mistaken? I didn't have an unnatural obsession with sheep breed fleeces, I was undertaking a study. This book in it's sheer existence, confirms it!
